As the summer season progresses and the living gets easier The Kids at kluster take some time out from extended pool-side stints (and for those in the London office, slope-side adventures) to return to our little section of the world wide web. The theme this time around? Australian fashion.
It’s an interesting time to be in the game. A time when our wares are not only taken seriously by the international industry, but also respected and, at times, revered by the fashion world at large. With that though in our minds, and deadlines looming over our heads, we ventured forth into store and studio, determined to dispel the myth that kangaroos are largely responsible for creating the majority of Australian couture.
Hidden amongst the pages of issue iii is a look at one of our favourite Sydney shopping institutions, Pretty Dog, its wares and cares and the woman behind the counter for over ten delightful years now. And, because we believe that variety is the spice of life, we have also added a top-six (of sorts) list of fashion retailers in Sydney (and one of our friends south of the border too).
Danith Thai returns to the kluster fold with a feature on the little three-piece that could, Sixhands. We welcome newcomer and guitar hero (the real thing people, not the game) Kat Harley and her entertaining insight into three fashion-forward individuals aka The Dedicated Followers of Fashion.
The kluster collective has harnessed its online shopping skills, for your benefit, giving you a little insight into a few fine specimens (and our new favourite bookmarked sites) of online retail therapy.
Not to be outdone by kluster's other talented pen-wielders, I took some time out from my editorial duties to talk to inspirational Sydney stylist, Tiana Wallace (whatever you do, don’t tell her I called her that – Miss Wallace errs on the side of modesty when it comes to her career achievements).
Last, but certainly far from least, our good mate and South African fashion aficionado, Rory Dupledorf, takes us on an adventure around NYC… as only Rory can. Oh, and did I mention there is a page dedicated solely to giving stuff away?
So throw a couple-a snags on the barbie, crack a beer and while your waiting for the cooker to heat up, take some time out of the blazing sun (we’re saving you from potentially irreparable sun damage, you’ll thank us later), open up a browser and play around in the stylish dotcom fabric that is issue iii – The Fashion Issue. It’s good to have you back again friend, it’s good to be back.
